我们在玩游戏或看游戏资讯的时候，可能会遇到idle这个词。这个词很小，也许初学英语的时候就认识了，正因为如此，在游戏中翻译这个词就很有迷惑性。请看下面几个例子。

“In early 2014, Orteil released an early version of Idle Game Maker, a tool allowing customized idle games to be made without coding knowledge.”

“In some games, even the clicking becomes unnecessary after a time, as the game plays itself, including in the player's absence, hence the moniker‘idle game'.”

“The class ability of the Necromancer also increases your Idle bonus, and he also has access to spells capable of further increasing it.”

“...after a full day of idling you have enough resources to enhance production only by 1%.”

翻看字典，我们大致可以查到这几个意思：

“1: not occupied or employed: such as

a: having no employment : INACTIVE

idle workers

b: not turned to normal or appropriate use

idle farmland

c: not scheduled to compete

the team will be idle tomorrow

2: lacking worth or basis : VAIN

idle chatter

idle pleasure

3a: SHIFTLESS, LAZY

b: having no evident lawful means of support”

基本就是懒惰、空闲、闲散的解释。根据字典，我们很有可能把第一和第二个例子中的idle game翻译成休闲游戏，但是其实这样翻是错误的。休闲游戏另有叫法，叫casual game。

此处例子中的idle game叫做放置类游戏或挂机游戏。一般指玩家登陆游戏后，丢着不管就能自动挂机升级。而休闲游戏是指“一些上手很快，无须长时间进行，可以随时停止的游戏”，一般都是些小游戏。

有时idle game也叫做点击类游戏（clicker game），点击类游戏需要玩家不停地点鼠标。其实两者之间还是有区别，很多放置类游戏都不需要点击，它强调地是玩家参与度非常低或者零参与。

“An idle game, also known as an incremental game, is a genre of games defined by the primary feature of its strategy: leaving the game running by itself with minimum or zero player interaction.”

开头第三个和第四个例子中的Idle bonus和Idling以及上图中的IDLE RPG MODE可以翻译为挂机。这时候有朋友会疑问为什么不翻译成放置奖励，放置中，放置RPG模式。飒姐只能说使用度更高吧，而且挂机的概念和idle定义是吻合的。

说到idle mode，也许大家会遇到active mode或play。后者是反义词，需要玩家积极参与游戏才能获得奖励，有点肝游戏那意味。
